SUMMER TERM 2015

If you are a fan of small things that fly, crawl and hop then you will be captivated by our topic this term.

It's Marvellous Minibeasts!

We get things going by comparing the film and the book version of Roald Dahl's 'James and the Giant Peach' and what an adventure James has!

In Topic we will be comparing different environments to see which minibeasts live there. This will involve off site visits to an allotment, Potteric Carr nature resrve and also Southwell. More details of these as the term progresses.

Look out for tasty DT! This term's topic is all about smoothies. I wonder what you would put in yours?

We are continuing our focus on reading with a new challenge for each half term. We had lots of  prize winners last term and hope to increase the numbers this term. Don't forget that one important challenge will be writing comments on the school blog. You  can find out what other classes are doing by looking at theirs.

Remember you can change your book as often as you like from the large choice of colour banded books in the corridor.

Please record any home reading in your diary.  Reading material can be almost anything - including comics, instructions, menus, recipes and so on.

It would be great to see a minimum of 5 reads a week.

In RE we will be looking at Old Testament Stories of bravery and adventure.

PE this term will be on Thursdays and Fridays so please make sure your kit is in school with suitable footwear.

The Friday session will be indoors with a focus on gymnastics and dance.

Fridays

Mrs Craig will be your Friday teacher. On Fridays you will have PSHE (Getting on and falling out), PE, maths weekly skills test, reading and science.

Homework

Each week personal reading recorded in your reading diary.

Tables.

Spellings usually for the following Tuesday.

Numeracy - given out on Fridays to be in the next Friday.

Topic Homework.

We had a great variety of brilliant homework chosen from the homework choice sheet.

You have already had a sheet listing a choice of topic homeworks for this term.

The first one about making a minibeast is due in on Friday 25th April. We are looking forward to seeing your creations and displaying them in the corridor.

On the sheet are listed 4 dates by which one of your choice must be done. that week we will have a 'show and tell' session so you can tell everyone about it. Photos of some will be put on the class blog.

All homework is rewarded by a number of tea party tokens and of course you can always do more than one by each date!

You can see that there is lots organised for you all to enjoy. Any questions? Come and ask me!

Mrs. Abbott.

We really enjoyed making our clay poppy on Friday.
