Welcome to Year 3

 

Hello and welcome to Year 3.  We hope you have had a fun packed summer holiday!

 

This term we will be learning all about Chocolate.

 

All of the Teachers and Teaching Assistants in Year 3 LOVE chocolate and we are sure that you do too!

 

In Literacy we will be reading the story of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl.  We we meet lots of exciting characters and find out all about Charlie Bucket and his exciting adventures!

 

In our Topic work we will be finding out where chocolate comes from.  Did you know that it grows on trees?  We will discover exactly where chocolate grows and how it came to be the sweet treat that we all know and love!  

 

 

Our Numeracy lessons will build on your learning from Key Stage 1.  We will be applying our skills in lots of practical activities and showing off our knowledge in our weekly Skill Tests.

It is very important that we keep learning our times tables this year.  Remember to learn your times tables ready for your Speedy Times Table Test!  You will have so much fun challenging yourselves and seeing how rapidly your skills improve!

 

HOMEWORK

 

On a Monday you will be given the Spellings for the week.  These will be taught and used throughout the week in class and you will be tested on them on a Friday.

It is very important that you bring your homework back to school on Friday in time for the test.

 

On a Wednesday you will be given your Speedy Times Tables for the week.  You will need to practice them at home and hand in your book on a Wednesday Morning.  Your Speedy Times Table Test will take 3 minutes and you must score at least 25 in order to move on to the next set of tables.

 

On a Friday you will be given your Topic Homework - this will be related to the work we have been doing in class and is your chance to show off your skills and knowledge.  Tea party tokens will be awarded for Topic Homework!
