This week we are going to be looking at maps and thinking about directions.
Look at the map above or one of your choosing.
Either tell an adult or write the answers to the questions.
Where is it a map of?
Do you recognise any places on the map?
On the map, can you;
find our school?
find where you live?
find a local shop?
see the swimming pool?
find the park?
Chose a place to navigate to, this means you are going to explain how to get there, from your house.
Now you have picked your destination (where you are going) you need to use the words left and right to help explain to someone how you would get there. You might also use road names and key features to help your directions.
Here is one I have done, starting at school to get to Asda at Celtic Point.
'Leaving the school gate, turn right, walk along Raymoth Lane. Go past The Three Legged Stool and the Farm shop. When you get to Celtic Fields, cross the road and go right, up Celtic Fields then the first left turn. You will see Asda from the car park you are now in.'
You may find it helps to have the map in front of you as you give directions.
