This week we are going to do some more work around the story
'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' by Eric Carle.
We hope that you enjoyed last week's activities and that you will enjoy the ideas for this week as well.
Have a look in our Science and Creative folders for more Hungry Caterpillar ideas
We've added some more links to the story being retold on YouTube.
This week they are being retold using puppets, drawings or things that you might have around your house so that you can enjoy seeing the story being told in different ways, and maybe have a go yourselves.
Here are some activities for you to do this week. I've written what you could do on each day, but you could do them in any order.
On Monday... (have a look at tomorrows job so that you can get your bits and bobs ready)
First - practice reading the words from the spelling lists - the days of the week and the time connectives - these are the same as last week so you should be superstars by now!
but also try our new words for this week - see above
Next - Begin a diary - think about what you did yesterday and write some sentences.
On Sunday morning I went for a walk.
Then in the afternoon I had a yummy dinner with my family.
Later in the evening I snuggled on the sofa and watched a film.
- plan your ideas before you start
- sound out each word carefully using your phonic skills
- sit your words on the lines
- write each letter carefully
- try our Year 1 handwriting.
First - practice writing the days of the week - remember to do careful handwriting
Then - Make your very own Hungry Caterpillar - have a look in the folder at the bottom of the page for ideas of what you could do. Try to use our time conjunction words whilst you are making it! - Remember to take a photo of it.
Finally - Continue your diary - if you have time - think about what you did yesterday and write some sentences. Try using our new words - morning, afternoon, evening
First - draw the caterpillar that you made yesterday and label it showing what you used. - (if you haven't made a caterpillar puppet, draw and label something that you have made)
Next - write some instructions to tell your friends how you made your caterpillar puppet (or other creation). Remember to use those time conjunctions - first, next, then, after that, finally -
If you send us a photo of your puppet and instructions we can put them on the website!!!

Finally - Practise retelling the story so that you can do a show for your family tomorrow when you've had another practise. Think about what happens in the story and the order that they happen.
