....................INSET DAYS Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th July (closed for pupils)...................

Creative

The activities for today are linked to

dragons and the dragon and lion dances

from the literacy section of today.

If you haven't seen the dances, just go to the Literacy folder and watch them, they're wonderful.

Depending on what you have to hand in your home you may need to make a few adjustments to the activity.

We would much rather you adapt an activity than make additional journeys outside your home.

You may want to have a go at all, or some of these activities or you may have some good ideas of your own.

HAVE FUN

As you do whichever activity which you choose today,

encourage your child to do as much of their own cutting as possible

(if the activity requires cutting).

It will help with their fine motor skills,

(helping their fingers to do what they want them to do),

and this in turn helps improve their writing!

A fire breathing dragon out of a cup - You could also make a cone of paper if you don't have a cup, and instead of coloured tissue paper, you could colour your own white paper in fire colours.

Paper plate dragon - if you don't have a paper plate you could cut a circle of paper/ card. Bun cases would make good eyes and nose, and pencil crayons/ pens would work just as well as paint.

A Chinese drum to play whilst you're dancing

If you're feeling super adventurous you could make a dragon head and perform you're own dragon dance - adapt as necessary,

There are soooooo many ways that you could make a dragon. Here are just a few. Attach straws/ sticks/ pencils to them and do a dragon dance with them.

Use your creation to perform a Dragon Dance.

Grab your dragon, put on some Chinese music

and ask your grown-up to record it.

We'd love to see your moves.

Make an obstacle course where you need to balance,

just like in the lion dance

- just be careful!!
