........Welcome back and welcome to our new starters................

Today's creative activities are all linked to

builders/ construction workers.

Depending on what you have to hand in your home you may need to make a few adjustments to the activity.

We would much rather you adapt an activity than make additional journeys outside your home.

You may want to have a go at all, or some of these activities or you may have some good ideas of your own.

Read/ listen to/ retell the story of the 3 little pigs

(I've added a version of it in the Storytime folder for today)

Think about the houses that the 3 little pigs built...

Make some collage pictures or make them out of boxes, or even out of real bricks, sticks and straw...

Talk about how strong each building material is and whether it would make a good house and why

(see pictures below)

Go on a materials hunt around your house

Be a builder and build a house out of a box and collage materials

Be a builder and build a den - what building materials will you use? How will you make it strong and safe? - my children love making dens with the dining room chairs, blankets and pegs... Have fun!

How tall can you build your tower of cups, blocks or boxes before it falls down? How can you make it more secure? How tall is your tower - see if you can measure it before it falls over.

Try weaving a house like in the picture below. Weaving helps with concentration and motor control but can be a little tricky

Have you got any nuts and bolts in your tool box, shed or garage

- get those fingers working by threading the nuts onto the bolts...

this is something which we do in school to help strengthen little fingers

which ultimately helps improve fine motor skills which improve writing!

It's actually loads of fun.

Have you got any pebbles - see if you can balance them to make a tower - what will the pebbles need to be like to make this easier?
