STREET CHILD - A BALANCED ARGUMENT
In Literacy we are reading the story of Street Child by Berlie Doherty which based on the story of how Banardos was founded. We are developing our skill to write a BALANCED ARGUMENT about the story of Jim Jarvis, a young boy who is orphaned and forced to live and work in the workhouse under grueling conditions.
Have a look through the WAGOLL and at the SPaG features we are focussing on and try to create your own version of the argument. Should Jim leave the shelter of the workhouse and chance his luck on the streets of London or remain where he is under the protection of the workhouse roof? (Based on reading up to page 62).
REMEMBER TO INCLUDE:
*Introduction to the key question (Should Jim stay or go).
*Paragraph 'FOR' - reasons Jim should stay.
*Paragraph 'AGAINST' - reasons Jim should leave.
*Conclusion - draw together you final thoughts on the situation.
