Welcome to Lions, Tigers and Cubs!

Welcome to Foundation Stage; the team is made up of

Miss Brunt, Miss Lucas, Miss Gill, Miss Dean, Mrs Bee, Miss Yapp

In FS2 (Lions and Tigers) we have 52 children split into two classes for carpet sessions and PE. For the rest of the time we mix together in our large classroom space as well as mixing with the Cubs in the morning.

In FS1 (Cubs) we have children who have a large classroom space to explore as well as Lions and Tigers classrooms in the morning.

The children learn through a ‘free flow’, play based curriculum with a range of child initiated and adult-led activities taking place both inside and out.

Please find below information regarding the two apps we regularly use in FS to communicate and share our learning experiences with parents!

The children have an on-line Tapestry Learning Journal which is used to record photos, observations and comments in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage, to build up a record of your child’s experiences during their time with us.  It is a wonderful way for parents to keep informed about their child’s learning instantly through email notifications.

Parents can add their own observations so we can gain an insight into their child’s interests and achievements outside of school, which can provoke some lovely discussions - if you require a form please ask a member of staff.

MarvellousMe is a quick and fun way for teachers to keep you regularly informed about the wonderful things that your child is learning at school, and how well they are developing good behaviours and character skills.

The snippets of information that MarvellousMe gives you (and to any other of your family members or carers who join up) makes it easy for you to:

  1. Have more meaningful family conversations with your child about school.
  2. Continue your child’s learning and practise what they’ve done in class.
  3. Celebrate and reinforce their successes and positive behaviours.

If you require a form please ask a member of staff.

What have we been up to?

Spring Term

Chinese New Year

Over the next two weeks we will be learning about and celebrating Chinese New Year, including learning about the story of the race and what out chinese animal is:

2013 - Horse

2014 - Snake

2015 - Sheep

The children really enjoyed learning about Superheros by reading the book Supertato and working out ways we can stop the Evil Pea from causing havoc in the Supermarket!

We also learnt about real life heros and what qualities it takes to be a hero! We got a special visit from the Fire Service so they could share with us what an amazing job they do!
