Session 3 - Composition of 8.
This is just like yesterday's activity but with the number 8
To do this activity you could just use 8 of 'something'
- blocks, coins, counters, cubes
- just keep all 8 the same as each other!
Then investigate different ways of grouping them
- This is similar to the activities from a few weeks ago where we investigated 5
(with cubes and frogs I think)
You could write the addition sentences to match the way you sort the 8 objects
to extend the learning further if you like
e.g. 3 + 5 = 8
or even 2 + 2 + 4 = 8 etc
it's just to make them realise that there are still 8, and that 8 can be made in many different ways!
