Our Local Community Heroes

Hello and Welcome! smiley

As you know, our current Topic is Heroes.

With the current climate, lots of members of our community are finding ways to be heroes themselves.

We thought we would use this page to recognise some of them!

If you think you, or a member of your community, has done something heroic or organised something for people to do to raise money, or just to raise peoples spirits, please let us know through your class emails so we are able to give them a shout out on our Community Heroes page.

Please remember, you are all heroes in your own way and you are keeping everyone safe by spending this time with your families.

Love, the Year 3 Team heart

We have some superstar bakers in Y3! Well done to these wonderful creators for winning categories in the Lockdown Bake Off Challenge! They look amazing!

These heroes cycled over 100 miles whilst in lockdown and remembered the highway code to keep themselves safe. Well done guys!

Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire

#ThankOurChildren heart

The Lord-Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, is launching a major initiative to thank every child and young person in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, following on from HM The Queen’s recent broadcast to the nation.

Here is the link for more information and to print off your rainbow certificate.

Online Dog Show

Some adults have made an online dog show to raise money for the NHS.

To enter you need to get your adults to upload a photo of your dog to the Facebook group:

Online Dog Show for the NHS & donate £1 to the link provided and all of the money goes to our NHS.

The winners will win beautiful rosettes, treats, toys and shampoos.

Even if you don't want to enter, your grown ups can still join the group to see all of the lovely dogs! yes

Lockdown Bake Off Challenge

Some grown ups on social media have created a

"Lock Down Bake Off Challenge".

Each week there is a different theme of a type of food for you and your families to create then all you have to do is upload a photo of your "bake" to be judged!

This week the theme is "Fruit & Veg", even if you don't fancy making anything - there is some fabulous photos to look at.

Just ask your grown ups to find the Lockdown Bake Off Challenge on Facebook. Yum! cheeky

Window Pictures

Some thoughtful people in our community

have come up with the fantastic idea of drawing pictures

to put in the windows of their houses.

Such as rainbows, sunshines and other lovely things.

Whilst families are going out for a walk in the fresh

air each day they are able play I Spy with all of the

wonderful, positive messages and pictures

children have been drawing.

If you have been putting pictures in your

window to spread p o s i t i v i t y then you are a HERO!

Decorating Pebbles

Some children around Gateford have been decorating stones and pebbles with pictures and messages and leaving them for other children to find when they go for their daily walks. Perhaps you could use this idea for where you live. Decorate some stones and leave them hidden for people to find, then when they find them, they can then rehide them for others to find! It is really cheering people up. We think they are heroes!

Here are some examples of what you could paint on your stones:
