You can support your child in their phonics learning in lots of ways.
*talk about sounds you hear in words.
*use letter sounds rather than letter names as this aids reading and writing
*practice writing lowercase letters (with pencil/ use a finger in sand/ in paint/ a stick in soil)
*find objects/ toys around the house which begin with sounds
*play 'i spy' using letter sounds
*sound talk words, for example you could say 'get your c-oa-t' or 'can you find a c-ar'
You can find out more about how we do phonics in school through the reading meeting section on the foundation stage page.
