Wednesday

Wednesday 13th May 2020

For today's English activity, choose one of the writing activities to complete about the picture of the thank you note.

Letter

I would like you to choose a real-life hero, for example nurses, doctors, firefighters, teachers, carers, etc. Write a letter to these real-life heroes thanking them for what they are doing. Tell them why you are thanking them and show your appreciation or if they have inspired you. Use lots of positive words. This can be to someone you know or a group of real-life heroes.

Poem

Write a poem about a real-life hero. You could talk about what they do and why they are a hero. Use lots of adjectives to describe what they do. You could write an acrostic poem by writing a word and starting each sentence with the letter of the word. You can chose any real-life hero, such as nurses, doctors, firefighters, teachers, carers, etc. In your poem, you could say thank you to these heroes.

Description

Write a description of the thank you note.

Use these questions to help you:

  • What does it look like?
  • Who can you see?
  • Who has written the message?
  • Why have they written the message?
  • What did they say thank you for?
  • How do you think the person who received the note will feel?
