To Mrs Bee, Mrs Roys and Mrs Foy

Thank you so much for Aneira’s report, it brought tears to my eyes. As Aneira’s Mum, I am very aware of her academic, physical, and creative capabilities (after all she has used them to run rings around me for 4 years ).

Aneira is my second born child and therefore, I thought I already knew what I was doing as a parent. As it turned out, she had much to teach me. As I realised that I am her example in this life, I appreciated that mediocracy would not do. If I wanted Aneira to know that all options are available to her, I must show her as well as teach her. More than anything I want her to be an everything girl, not just a “good girl”. I could only dream that she would find teachers who would support her in becoming the best version of herself, but this is exactly what happened.

I don’t mind what Aneira does in this life as long as she is happy, and as long as she believes anything is possible. I want her to be surrounded by examples of excellence whilst being kindly nurtured.

This is what she has had from you all this year.

When I look at Aneira I see a ball of potential. She tells me that she is going to co-own the “Jones Flying Car Company” with Emrys and Mali. However, she warns Emrys that she won’t be there every day, she will just check in to make sure he is doing the right colours, and then she will be back to her bakery and her children.

You have clearly taken the time to know her personally. She talks about you all as if you are part of her family and I know that she feels loved and cared for by you all. This is the most important thing for me. I cannot thank you enough for the way in which you have looked after her, cuddled her when she has needed it, encouraged her where her confidence has wavered and given her such security and happiness that she has looked forward to every single day of Nursery without exception.

Not only that, you have allowed her to develop and build upon all her interests (of which there are many!). You have taken what she already knows and showed her how to grow those seeds into tools she can use to participate with the wider world.

She appreciates and enjoys her ability to read and write more than you can know. She stuck her phonics sound mat on her wall, alongside her martial arts sticker chart and Elsa poster. She writes on paper, sand, pavements… anywhere, and she can recognise words when we’re out and about. She plays I-spy with Mali, teaching her how to hear the sounds at the beginning of each word. She is no longer left behind and she is extremely proud. Thank you for this. Again, this exceeded my expectations.

She has also had the opportunity to be more creative than ever! Although the Art Station will always hold a special place in her heart, she talks about the things she fixes, builds, designs and bakes. I could not believe it when she whipped out a sausage roll that she had made herself one afternoon, Grandad was the only person allowed to have one tiny nibble but he told us it was delicious! Again, thank you for every one of these opportunities. It is more than I expected and I couldn’t be happier for Aneira. What a lucky girl!

Thank you for supporting her friendships and views of herself. Aneira can be sensitive and shy at times and it is always a worry that she will never cross that threshold to be her full-on, hilarious self when she is not at home. It is more than evident that she has been nourished to be able to be herself whilst at Nursery.

From another perspective, I loved hearing about how you sought help to adjust the setting to meet the needs of all the children, and how you have implemented all the changes. This is an example of what I mean by wanting my children to be surrounded by excellence as well as taught excellence. You are the example to keep learning and adjusting to get the best out of a situation. This is the spark I love about you all.

I could go on and on, but I am sure you all have plenty of glowing reviews to read. Aneira really landed on her feet this year, and as a family, we are extra lucky as Mali gets to join you next year.

Thank you for everything you have done for Aneira. I know she will miss you all incredibly, but she has told me that she will be visiting all the time.

Here is one of my many favourite quotes which reminds me of Aneira, I hope you see yourselves in this too.

Thank you all again.
