4HA
Welcome back to an action packed Summer Term.
The recently renamed 4HA have lots to look forward to this term.
This term our topic is 'Africa' which promises to be very interesting. Although we pride ourselves on School Visits, sadly a trip to Africa is well out of our budget! Never mind! We'll try and bring Africa to St John's.
The term got off to a good start with a viewing of 'The Lion King' to help us with our literacy work. In literacy we will be looking at African traditional stories, writing playscripts and making information booklets about Kenya. Team points for anyone who gets ahead by bringing in information about Kenya. It must be in your own words and not just copy and pasted from the internet.
In science this term we will be finding out about how we and animals move and grow.
Music will definitely have an African theme and we will be making percussion instruments from re-cycled plastic milk bottles, so please start saving them now. Also any unwanted wool and beads would be useful for our artwork.
Our RE theme this term is comparing places of worship. As many of the countries in the North of Africa are at least 90% Muslim, we have decided to look at Islam as our major world religion. Our recent trip to the Jamia Mosque in Doncaster was extremely informative and interesting.
