Good afternoon Year 5 and welcome back after the half term!
Miss Clarke and I hope you had a fabulous time and are fully rested for this term! We are really looking forward to the residential and hope you are too! We have a couple of things for you to take note of:

The final term of year 5 and what a term we have in store! Our topic is going to be Brazil and the World Cup. We are going to be exploring the Amazon Rainforest and finding out all the different creepy crawly and beasts that live there! We will also be learning about the different cultures of Brazil, old and new and the different celebrations and carnivals.
We will be looking for top detectives as we try to solve the mystery of the missing world cup trophy! We will also be looking at the history of the world cup finding out how it all started and looking through a range of football kits, stadiums and dramas from the world cups of the past.
This topic gives the children a chance to get creative, we will be designing our own football kits stadiums, carnival costumes and street parties.
In Literacy we will be looking at a range of different texts. We will look at traditional Brazilian stories, where the children will retell the stories through drama and write their own. We will also be getting lively with poetry and writing poetry about carnival and performing them to an audience. The children will studying biographies about football players and will write their own biographies and create fact files about famous footballers and football teams.
